Chit fund scam: BIEO arrests Doomdooma man

GUwahati, May 14: A BIEO team, probing the chit-fund scam involving a Harya-based company RDPL Landmark & Infrastructure limited, has arrested Satish Prasad of Doomdooma who is the signing authority of a 60-bigha plot procured by the company at Bogibeel Path in Dibrugarh.

RDPL had set up shop in Assam in 2010 and till 2014 it had collected over Rs 12 crore from gullible investors promising double amounts or a plot of land on maturity. The company had also brought a 12-bigha plot at Bebejia in gaon. Raids were conducted by the BIEO at the Harya office of the company, but its CMD Praveen Kumar Rohila remained untraced.

The chit fund company had set up eleven offices in Assam, all shut now.

Last year, an investor hailing from Guwahati had lodged a police complaint against the company.
