Citizenship (Amendment) Bill: Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) meet remains inconclusive

New Delhi: The much-hyped Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) meeting over the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 in New Delhi on Tuesday remained inconclusive with leaders of the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) shouting against the controversial Bill at the Parliament House.

JPC chairman Rajendra Agrawal has said that the committee will sit again on November 27 with the circulation of a notice on the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill among all members of the committee.

“Many members of the 30-member committee did not receive notice over the amendment. Thus the committee will again sit on November 27, and if necessary, it will again sit for the third time on December 6 for taking the final call,” said a member of the JPC.

The JPC chairman convened the meeting over the controversial Bill at the Parliament House.
