GUWAHATI, July 7: Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Tuesday said that the thrust of the State Government on the NRC update process is to make it hassle-free for the people even while revising the citizenship records. “However, when the process practically started on the ground, we began receiving numerous complaints, including harassment of genuine citizens. To look into the matter, we have formed a sub-committee led by Dr. Bhumidhar Barman. Based on the findings of the committee, we’ll request the Centre and the Registrar General of India (RGI) to simplify the procedure,” Gogoi said.
