Commul forces active in State: CM

Guwahati, Sept 26: Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has said that commul forces, both Hindu and Islamic fundamentalists, were active in the State and trying to create conflict.

The latest happenings in Dhubri, which flared up to a commul clash today before being brought under control by the police, is the doing of such forces, he added.

The Chief Minister said the situation in Dhubri was now under control.

He further said there were reports of commul elements trying to disrupt the Eid-uz-Zuha celebrations in the State.

 "In spite of these forces wanting to create commul strife during Eid yesterday, the festival passed off peacefully due to the efforts of the security forces and cooperation of the people," he said.

Gogoi, however, said the government was on the constant vigil to keep such elements at bay.

Citing the annual report of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Gogoi claiming that the overall security scerio in the State has improved, barring a few incidents.
