Complaint filed against some top BJP leaders

’Immigrant’ reference in BJP vision document

GUWAHATI, February 5: Accusing some tiol level BJP leaders like Satish Upadhyay, Prabhat Jha, Dr Kiran Bedi, Dr Harsh Vardhan and Praveen Shankar Kapoor of their direct or indirect involvement with the preparation and launching of the ‘Vision Document 2015’ for the Delhi elections and the subsequent ruckus over the issue of terming the people from the northeastern region in Delhi as “immigrants” and “migrants” in the ‘Vision Document’, Arun Pathak, well known social worker and trader based in the city lodged a complaint against these politicians in the CID Police Station, Assam on Thursday.

The State erupted in protests on Wednesday with various organisations demanding and unconditiol apology from the BJP for referring to the people of the region as “immigrants” and “migrants” in its Vision Document.

In his complaint, Pathak stated: “...the accused persons by putting the offensive contents in the Vision Document 2015 and circulating it have intentiolly promoted and attempted to promote racial disharmony and ill–will between the people living in the northeastern region and other parts of India,” adding, “...all the accused persons are aware of the contents of the Vision Document 2015 and they were party to the inclusion of the said offensive words in it and have committed a crimil offence in furtherance of their common intention by publishing and circulating it.”

He further said, “...the accused persons have committed offences punishable under sections 153–A/505(2)/34 IPC, for which they are liable to be tried and punished in accordance with law.”

Pathak said that the people of the region would not accept the clarifications later made by the BJP Delhi unit, which, according to him, was equally offensive.

According to the social worker, “By using such expressions, the accused persons have further alieted the people of the northeastern region...”

People, political parties, social groups and others in the region have also demanded an unconditiol apology from the BJP for hurting the sentiments of people of the region.

Pathak also prayed that the CID Police Station may register a case against the accused persons under appropriate sections of law and investigate the matter and submit report to the Court concerned after observing all formalities as required under law.
