Congress, AIUDF working as Jihadis' sleeper cell: BJP

By our Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, April 26: The BJP Assam Pradesh has said that the Congress and the AIUDF have been working as the ‘sleeper cell’ for the development of Jihadis and fundamentalists in Assam by protecting Rahim Khan, who made an attempt to derail the NRC update process in the State.

Talking to newsmen here today, Assam BJP spokesperson Rupam Goswami said that apprehensive of defeat the Congress in Assam is putting a brave front and claiming that it will form the fourth government at Dispur. Goswami said: “The people of Assam have given their mandate and the results will be declared on May 19. However, a number of Congress leaders in the State, including Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Anjan Dutta, have been showing an undue agility on the formation of their fourth government at Dispur. This shows that they are a frustrated lot. The 15-year-long misrule of the Congress in Assam has generated an anti-incumbency wave in the State. The wave consequently has given rise to a wave for a change at Dispur. The results to be declared on May 19 will make everything crystal clear.”

Goswami alleged that Dutta was involved in oil pilferage along with Putul Gogoi. “This is not all. Dutta is also allegedly involved in the killing of his house maid. This apart, many of the Congress candidates in the recently held Assembly election in the State like Suresh Bora, Dulu Ahmed, Rumi th, Dhruva Gogoi, Akon Bora, Chandan Sarkar, Siddeque Ahmed, Emul Haque Lashkar, Pranjit Choudhury, Bharat rah and others have crimil charges against them. Such a party pointing its accusing finger at the BJP is laughable. MP Ripun Bora was an accused in the Daniel Toppo murder case. Former minister Nilomani Sen Deka was an accused in the missing of banita Barman. Chief Minister’s press adviser Bharat rah’s me was figured in the case relating to the killing of children in a bomb blast in Dhemaji.”

Goswami also came down heavily on the Congress for its family-centric politics both at tiol and State levels.

BJP’s State Minority Morcha president Mominul Aowal, who was also present at the press meet, said: “Anjan Dutta has now started to talk like an Opposition leader. The Congress and the AIUDF have been working as a sleeper cell of Jihadis and fundamentalists in Assam by protecting Rahim Khan, who dared to derail the process of NRC update in the State.”
