HAFLONG, Oct 17: The Congress conceded defeat in the trust motion in NC Hills Autonomous Council today, with Chief Executive Member Debojit Thaosen putting in his papers. Chairman of the Council Ngamrothang Hmar then adjourned the council sine die. The NCHAC special session was held following the order by Governor PB Acharya as MAC Prakanta Warisa on behalf of 18 members of the council, claimed that the present CEM has lost the confidence of a majority of the members, since as many as 18 MACs of NCHAC have joined the BJP. Warisa had requested the Governor for removal of the present CEM and formation of a new Executive Committee. The session was attended by all the 18 MACs under the leadership of Prakanta Warisa while no Congress member attended the session. Meanwhile, addressing a press conference in Guwahati, State BJP president Siddhartha Bhattacharya questioned as to why Debojit Thaosen sent his resigtion to the Chairman instead of the Governor. "We all know the resigtion was supposed to send to the Governor, why Thaosen sent it to the Chairman?" He further said that three more members are joining the BJP soon and it will take the party's strength in the council to 21.
