GUWAHATI: A four-year-and-five-month-old child has tested COVID-19 positive in JMCH (Jorhat Medical College & Hospital).

Jorhat DC Roshni Apranji Korati said in a message to The Sentinel on Saturday night, “One positive result has been registered in the JMCH laboratory. We’ve sent the sample to the ICMR laboratory at Lahowal for a recheck. I’ll let you know as soon as the result comes in tomorrow afternoon.”

“The child is from Pulibor in Jorhat town. Her family hails from Bihar. The girl, her sister and her mother came to Jorhat on March 19. ASHA, ANM and MPW personnel visited the family on March 20 and brought them to the JMCH as the girl had shown symptoms akin to COVID. A sample was taken and tested on Saturday evening,” the DC elaborated.

“We have started to contact tracing. Everybody is being placed under home isolation, including all the healthcare personnel who visited the family. All have been shifted to the isolation ward in the JMCH,” the DC said.
