Crack down on selfies at Cannes

CANNES, May 20: During the Cannes line up announcement, festival director Thierry Fremaux revealed that there would be a clamp down on excessive selfie-taking on the red carpet. “We don’t want to prohibit it but we want to slow down the process of selfies on the steps,” he said adding that he thought the practice was “ridiculous and grotesque,” not to mention that it really slows things down”. His said: “You never look as ugly as you do in a selfie” has however has not deterred the fans who are finding novel and inventive ways to get around the ban and the celebrities are seen ignoring the selfie ban along with them. — Malti Sahai
