December carge: NIA chargesheets four more Bodo rebels

Guwahati, July 22:  The NIA today chargesheeted four more senior NDFB(S) militants, including the outfit's assistant organizing secretary and the commander of the 3rd battalion, in connection with the massacre of Adivasi villagers in December last year.

The investigating agency today submitted the chargesheet against assistant organizing secretary Sanju Bordoloi, 3rd battalion commander Ajoy Basumatary, his deputy Nitul Daimary and 'corporal' Bishnu rzary. They have been chargesheeted in the Dhekiajuli incident in which six people were killed and two others injured.

Charges under various sections of the IPC, Arms Act, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act have been drawn against them.

"During the course of investigation, the NIA has been able to collect a wide variety of evidence ranging from oral testimonies to technical records and results from ballistic tests. The NIA has opted to continue further investigation of the case, since certain hard-core senior leaders of NDFB(S) are yet to be apprehended," a spokesman said. The NIA had registered five cases after the December massacre in which over eighty Adivasi villagers were killed by Bodo militants in Sonitpur, Kokrajhar and Chirang districts. Charge sheets have been submitted in three cases against 18 hard-core NDFB(S) militants so far.
