Delete fake voters from rolls: AGSU

GUWAHATI, July 8: A delegation of the All Guwahati Students' Union on Wednesday met Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup Metro, M Angamathu and urged him to delete the mes of fake voters along with that of illegal immigrants from the voters list. Assuring the DC that the AGSU is committed to cooperate wholeheartedly in the NRC update process, the delegation highlighted that in some cases it has come to light that fake mes have made it to the voters list.

"The mes of illegal immigrants making to the voters list along with genuine residents and land holders is a matter of concern," said the AGSU delegation. The delegation appealed to the DC to ensure that the NRC update process is free from loopholes. A press release by AGSU stated that the DC has assured them of taking all necessary steps in this regard. It also said that the M Angamathu has informed them that many mes have already been deleted and that the process is underway. Meanwhile, the organization has also called its emergency executive meeting on Thursday.
