Delhi, Dhaka to discuss IS threat

NEW DELHI, July 27: Against the backdrop of the recent IS-sponsored terror activities in Bangladesh, New Delhi and Dhaka will discuss strategies to tackle the mece.

Home Minister Rajth Singh and his Bangladesh counterpart Asaduzzaman Khan will be meeting in New Delhi on Thursday for the fourth Home Ministry level talks. The meeting assumes significance for Assam as the State has already felt the presence of Islamic militancy.

“The talks are expected to further strengthen and enhance cooperation between the two countries on security and border magement matters,” said a senior government official.

The official said the Bangladesh Minister is leading a high level delegation for the 4-day talks. During this visit, the Bangladeshi delegation will call on the President and Prime Minister of India. “On Thursday, there will be Home Minister level talks between delegation led by Bangladesh Home Minister and Union Home Minister of India,” added the official. The Indian delegation will consist of tiol Security Advisor, Union Home Secretary and officers of Ministry of Exterl Affairs (MEA), Border Security Force (BSF), rcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Coast Guard and others. During the talks, there will be review of Land Boundary Agreement implementation, security and border magement and other related issues.
