Dima Hasao council: BJP stakes claim

Guwahati, Oct 10: A day after eight Congress and another independent member joined the party, the BJP today staked claimed to form the Dima Hasao Autonomous Council, parading before the Governor 18 members (of the total 30) whose support it enjoys. The defectors were led by Congress member Prakanta Warisa. Governor PB Acharya told the BJP delegation led by its State president Siddhartha Bhattacharya that he will look into the legal and constitutiol aspects and take a decision within three days. The Governor has also sought a report from the Hills Area Development department.
