AASU complains to SC panel

Guwahati, Dec 9: The All Assam Students Union today told the Supreme Court-appointed monitoring committee that the State government is trying to stonewall the NRC update exercise.
"The Supreme Court had directed the government not to give any additiol work to those officials and employees engaged in the NRC update exercise. But the government has violated the direction," an AASU delegation led by Sammujal Bhattacharya told Justice (retired) DN Choudhury of the committee.
The students' body alleged that the employees engaged in the exercise were given additiol work by the government. "The government has also transferred the deputy commissioners of five districts at this point of time. The government intends to impede the process through these means," it alleged.
