Draft amendment on land regulation

GUWAHATI, April 28: The Asombhumi Suraksha Sonmilon has released the draft amendment proposal on ‘The Chapter X of the Assam Land and Revenue Regulation (ALRR), 1886’ on Saturday in Guwahati. The purpose of the release is to invite public opinion from across the society.

The objective and the purpose of enacting and inserting chapter X of the ALRR, 1886 in the year 1947 by the State government was to protect the land rights of the backward classes of people of the State from outside aggression. However, the same (protection) was not made available to all the backward classes. By extending the ambit of the provisions of this chapter to all the recognized backward classes of Assam, the land of Assam can be protected from being occupied, encroached upon and acquired by undeserved persons, the draft release said.
