EC raid on Goutom Bora's residence

From a correspondent
HAIBORGAON, April 10: A day before polling in the second phase, an Election Commission team led by the central election observer raided the residence of former minister and Congress candidate from Batardrava Goutam Bora. The EC team, comprising three magistrates, including circle officer Lasit Das, searched Bora's residence located at Rat gar in Dhing. Bora and his wife were "detained" for several hours in the residence and quizzed.  The search was conducted after reports that hundreds of people had thronged Bora's residence today. The EC team called the in-charge of Dhing police station and directed him to enquire whether any money was distributed among the people who had gathered at Bora's residence. Bora later described the raid as "illegal" and "a conspiracy of a particular political party".
