ED to slap notices on Lalit Modi

Mumbai, June 15: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is in the process of serving fil pelty notices in 16 alleged forex violation cases amounting to an estimated Rs.1,700 crore against former Indian Premier League chairman Lalit Modi and others as part of its wide-ranging probe in the alleged fincial irregularities in various editions of the T-20 cricket extravaganza.  Meanwhile, Modi’s lawyer on Monday termed the entire issue involving Exterl Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj a “political jamboree” intended to “destabilise the government”. “No proceeding in any court of law has declared him an offender or a fugitive. He is staying in London with the full knowledge of and complying with British laws,” lawyer Mehmood M. Abdi said on behalf of Modi. (IANS)
