Eleven killed in road mishaps

TEZPUR/GUWAHATI, January 31: In twin road accidents on Saturday, eleven persons were killed in Assam’s Sonitpur district. Police sources said that six persons of a marriage party, including the newly married couple, died when the bus in which they were travelling collided head on with an oil tanker at Jamugurihat on tiol Highway 15 on Saturday morning. Five persons, including the couple, died on the spot, while another person succumbed to his injuries at the Kaklata Civil Hospital in Tezpur. The deceased couple have been identified as Dilip Sahu and Asha Sahu, while the others are yet to be identified. In another mishap in the district, five labourers were killed on the spot when the brick laden truck, in which they were travelling, skidded off the road and turned turtle at Gohpur Hawajan on tiol Highway15, sources added.
