Fill up NRC forms: AASU

Guwahati, June 30: The All Assam Students’ Union made an appeal to the people of the state to participate actively in the NRC update process. AASU president (in-charge) Pradip Das and general secretary (in-charge) Duldul Borkotoky made the appeal through a press release on Tuesday.

Crediting the Assam Accord for the NRC upgradation process, the AASU leadership said that all those who have their mes in the NRC of 1951 or those who have their mes in the voter list of 1971 should duly fill the NRC. In the release the organization said that the NRC form has been filized after several rounds of meeting between the State government, the AASU and 26 ethnic groups of the state, following Supreme Court directive and that the Apex Court is monitoring the entire process.

In its release the organization also alleged that Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is trying to conspire for illegal Bangladeshi migrants. Further alleging that Gogoi is trying to disrupt the NRC upgradation process, the AASU said that however, this time the Chief Minister will not succeed with his ill-motives.

Affirming that the documents of the tribals, the tea tribe people and other ethnic groups are genuine, it said that the difficulties they have been facing in collecting the legacy data should be sorted out by the district and sub-divisiol administrations.
