Finish off NDFB(S), Parrikar tells armymen

Rangiya, May 2: On the second day of his visit to the Gajraj Corps Zone, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar made his maiden visit to the Rangiya based Red Horns Division today. He was accompanied by MoS (Home) Kiren Rijiju, Army Chief Gen Dalbir Singh, GOC-in-C Lt Gen MMS Rai, and GOC Gajraj Corps Lt Gen Sarath Chand.

He reviewed the overall security situation prevailing in Lower Assam and also to got a first-hand feel of the ongoing operations against the terrorist groups. On his arrival at Rangiya, Parrikar was received by Maj Gen CP Mohanty, General Officer Commanding of Rangiya based Red Horn Division. He was given a detailed briefing on the ongoing counter insurgency operations in Lower Assam, with a specific update on the current operations being undertaken against NDFB (S) post the December 2014 violence against the Adivasis.

Parrikar told the army officials there should be no let-up in the operations against the Bodo rebel outfit till it is neutralized. The minister expressed his satisfaction on the progress of operations and also appreciated the efforts made by the formation to dymically review and alter its tactics to counter the rapidly changing situation in the region. Parrikar said if required more funds can be provided for Operation Sadbhav to carry out welfare activities for the people of the region.  

Rijiju, while appreciating the successful conduct of operations by the army and other security agencies, post 23 December violence, stated that this was the most successful operation carried out in the region in recent past, with utmost empathy and precision, a press release said.
