KOKRAJHAR: The first train with hundreds of stranded people from Delhi arrived in Assam on Wednesday.

Altogether 29 such people, including students and other professionals, aboard the New Delhi-Dibrugarh Up Rajdhani Express, arrived at the Kokrajhar Railway station around 7.20 pm on Wednesday. While sixty-eight others alighted in the Guwahati Railway Station, 76 others of Assam will get down in Dibrugarh. The train also has many passengers bound for the neighbouring NE States, said sources.

Meanwhile, State Social Welfare and Soil Conservation Minister Pramila Rani Brahma, who is looking after the returnees of lower Assam, welcomed the students and other passengers at the Kokrajhar Railway Station. Before leaving the station, the passengers were taken for the thermo-screening test by a medical team. Later, they were taken to the SAI quarantine centre here. Some of the students were taken to different hotels for 14 days. The passengers who got down at the Kokrajhar station hail from nine districts of lower Assam. The Minister also waved the traditional 'Aronai' to the passengers passing through Kokrajhar as part of her goodwill gesture.
