Four Congress MLAs suspended

Guwahati, Aug 30: The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee has placed under suspension four MLAs - Pradan Barua, Pijush Hazarika, Jayanta Malla Barua and Pallav Lochan Das - on charges of anti-party activities. Show-cause notices were served to them seeking an explation within fifteen days. The action came after some Congress legislators greeted Himanta Biswa Sarma at the airport when he landed here from Delhi after announcing his decision to join the BJP. Show-cause notices have been slapped on five other legislators as well - Abu Taher Bepari, Kripath Malla, Bolin Chetia, Rajen Borthakur and Binda Saikia.
