Four People from Assam Die in Major Road Mishap in Kolkata

MANGALDAI, Aug 28: Four youths from Lower Assam and a driver from Kolkata died on the spot when the Innova car they were travelling in collided head-on with a gas tanker at Bagnan in Howrah in West Bengal on Tuesday afternoon. The youths were travelling to Digha, a tourist spot. One Tarikul Islam, son of Sahidur Rahman of village Mukalmuwa in Nalbari district, checked in at Assam House, Kolkata on Sunday. He was accompanied by his friends Baktiar (28), Rahul Ali (29), Chand Mahammed Ali (30) and Majafar Ali (28). However, the exact addresses of his friends could not be traced yet. On special duty at Assam House in Kolkata, Jinti Das, along with the staff, immediately rushed to the spot and arranged for shifting the critically injured boy to the hospital. The driver of the car, Seikh Imtiaz was also killed in the accident.
