All women polling stations
The Election Commission has formed
all-women polling parties in 78 polling stations. All officers, including the presiding officer and the polling officer will be women.
Modal polling stations
Altogether 134 modal polling stations have been set up for the first phase of polls. These polling stations will feature welcoming groups, medical teams, eateries, traditiol felicitation of the eldest voter and getting a tree planted by the eldest voter. Toffees will be distributed among small children accompanying their mothers.
VVPAT systems in 423 polling stations
Voter-verified paper audit trail (VVPAT) is a method of providing feedback to voters using a ballot-less voting system. VVPAT is intended as an independent verification system for electronic voting machines that allows voters to verify that their votes are cast as intended and can serve as an additiol barrier to changing or destroying votes. Under VVPAT, a printer-like apparatus is linked to Electronic Voting Machine (EVM). When a vote is cast, a receipt is generated showing the serial number, me and symbol of the candidate. It confirms the vote and the voter can verify the details. The receipt, once viewed, goes inside a container linked to the EVM and can only be accessed by the election officers in rarest of rare cases. Voters in the first phase will have an experience of this system in 423 polling stations in Cachar, Sonitpur and Jorhat.
Online complaint system
The Election Commission of India has installed three new softwares to help voters lodge online complaints about scarcity of basic amenities at polling stations and also highlight illegal activities committed by both politicians and officials.
