GUWAHATI, June 27: Union Health and Family Welfare Minister JP dda today refuted the allegation that the Centre has changed its funding pattern in Assam from 90:10 to 50:50. Surprisingly, Assam Health Minister Dr zrul Islam, presiding over the meet in which the Union Health minister made this claim, promptly agreed with him

dda today reviewed the NRHM schemes in the Northeast with the health ministers of NE states in the city. After the meeting, dda refuted the allegations leveled by the Tarun Gogoi government that Central funds to the State have been cut.

"We are still funding Assam in the 90:10 pattern," he said, adding, "Funds are available, and we're ready to release them. The State Government, however, has to submit utilization certificates regularly."

dda asked Dispur to raise the strength of doctors and nurses and the Centre is ready to fund towards that end. On the shortage of medicines in Assam hospitals, he said that the Centre is ready to ensure supply if the State Government sends proposals for that. dda laid stress on forward linkage scheme that will let the State governments to use funds of health schemes remaining unused in other health schemes. "In order to look into health projects and schemes in the Northeast, the Centre is going to develop a regiol resource centre for building capacities of the NE states for programme implementation," dda said. A Joint Secretary from Ministry of Health & Family Welfare will visit Northeastern states once a month to oversee implementation of programmes and address bottlenecks.
