Gauhati High Court stays appointment of 113 Agriculture Development Officers

Results of Irrigation Section Assistants also stayed

STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI: The Gauhati High Court on Wednesday stayed the appointment of 113 ADOs (Agriculture Development Officers) selected by the APSC (Assam Public Service Commission). In another order, the Court stayed the declaration of results with respect to the examination for appointing Section Assistants in the State Irrigation Department. The advertisement for this examination was floated on December 18, 2019; and the examination was held on February 1 and 2, 2020. Six candidates had moved the Court alleging that M/s Aptek Limited, which conducted the examination, is a company earlier blacklisted by the Allahabad High Court. They also alleged that the company had resorted to various anomalies while conducting the examination for the Section Assistants.

With respect to the ADOs appointment, sources said that of the around 1,500 candidates who had appeared for the scanning test, 445 qualified for the interview round slated for January 30, 2020. Interestingly enough, after one hour on the same day the APSC announced the interview results selecting 113 candidates.

A section of the deprived candidates moved the High Court challenging the results. They contended that though APSC Rule-2010 should have been applicable as the advertisement for 115 ADO posts was given in 2018 yet APSC Rule-2019 was applied with respect to the examination.
