Guwahati, March 17: Two employees of Guwahati Medical College and Hospital have been arrested and sent to jail on charges of misappropriating hospital funds.

The accused are Kaju Ahmed and Anjan Haloi, both contractual employees at the computer section of the hospital.

GMCH authorities had filed an FIR with police after they detected anomalies in revenue collection worth over Rs 1.30 lakh during the month of October, 2015.

A case was registered against four employees. One of them is said to be absconding.

The accused were associated with collection of registration fees and test charges.

Apparently, the collected fees was not deposited but siphoned off by manipulating the in-built computer system.

The GMCH audit committee is verifying the actual amount embezzled in the scam.
