Gogoi-Himanta threaten to 'expose' each other

BY OUR STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, Dec 8: Hitting out at his former blue eyed boy Himanta Biswa Sarma for his comment on the Speaker being influenced by the Chief Minister, Tarun Gogoi on Tuesday dared Sarma to prove the allegation.

“I dare him to prove it,” Gogoi said, speaking to the media outside the assembly. “I still have a letter he wrote to me, expressing his everlasting gratitude and allegiance to me when I made him minister. I’ll make it public tomorrow,” Gogoi said.

“Till the other day, he was appeasing me. For News Live (a private news channel), I was the best Chief Minister of Assam. Himanta had praised me in that channel as a visiory and now says that I am bad. His words do not carry any value,” Gogoi said, adding, “Himanta is a master of dirty politics. He is an expert in changing colours.”

The Chief Minister also targeted BJP State president and Union minister Sarbanda Sonowal. “Sarbanda touches Jaitley’s feet. Himanta Biswa touches Mahendra Singh’s feet. This is the level of BJP’s politics. Yesterday Shahwaz Hussain (BJP tiol spokesperson) said that Assam is having jungle raj. Am I a junglee Chief Minister? After all, the people of Assam voted me to power for three consecutive terms,” Gogoi said.
