Gogoi sways at the tune of dhols and pepa

GUWAHATI, April 16: Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi visited Pub-Guwahati Bihu Sanmelan at Assam Engineering Institute Playground at Chandmari yesterday and spent some time with Bihu revellers and danced in the tune of pepa and beats of dhols.

Wishing the Bihu revellers at the venue, Gogoi said that celebrations of Bihu is no longer confined to the state alone, the festival has spread all over the country and abroad which testifies the adoration and popularity of Bihu. He also said that celebrations of Bihu throughout the globe in fact is a testimony that the world is getting to know and recognise Assamese culture and its festivals and the people are getting attracted towards them.

Earlier, on April 14, Chief Minister Gogoi visited Guwahati Bihu Sanmelan at Latasil playground as the chief guest and wished everybody on the occasion. He said that Bihu is the lifeline of Assamese culture and it ushers in peace, prosperity and growth in the society.  He also said Bihu promotes brotherhood among different communities and it strengthens the bond of unity among diversities. It also encourages coexistence among man-animal and ture. On the occasion, Gogoi also released a souvenir.
