Government Railway Police Transit Point for Stolen Motorcycles

GUWAHATI: GRP (Government Railway Police) personnel investigating into two cases of stolen motorcycles being sent to the Northeast from Delhi for sale through the courier service via Guwahati Railway Station (GRS) have recovered 29 more motorcycles, including Pulsars, CBZs, FZs, Yamaha RXs, a Royal Enfield, etc from the parcel office at the railway station. This lends credence to the fact that the sale of stolen motorcycles from the national capital in the Northeast has been going on for quite a long time.

In their investigation into cases (165/19 u/s 379) and (167/19 u/s 379/471 IPC) registered recently, the GRP has recovered 29 more motorcycles from the godown of the parcel office at Guwahati Railway Station. It has come to light that some of the motorcycles have been lying in the godown as long as ten years. This proves beyond doubt that such a racket has been active from the National Capital to the Northeast at least for ten years.

According to the investigators, 22 of the 29 motorcycles have been confirmed as stolen ones sent to the Northeast from Delhi with fake documents for sale. Seven of the motorcycles, according to the investigators, are suspicious ones. The investigators further say that some of the motorcycles have been lying in the godown of the parcel office up to ten years as nobody turned up for receiving the delivery.

Last week, the Government Railway Police personnel had conducted a raid in the parcel office at the Guwahati Railway station leading to the recovery of as many as 13 Royal Enfield motorcycles, all stolen from Delhi and sent to various destinations in the Northeast for sale.
