Hand over Jugdol murder case to CBI: Dimoria bodies

GUWAHATI, Dec 11: Whenever the me of a big fish figures in any crime, including murder, the police in the State pretend as though they have bigger fish to fry. The police hush such crimes up, whatever brutal they are.

It is still fresh in the minds of the people of the State that the me of former minister (now MLA) Akon Bora figured in the murder case of as many as six of a family at Jogdol in the Dimoria area, six years ago. However, the investigation into the murder case has failed to book the culprits as yet, and the investigation of the case is abysmally slow. The six people, who had been killed brutally, were Swap Doloi, Pranita Doloi, Sabita Doloi,Harakanta Doloi, Tukul Doloi and Atul Boloi.

On the fifth and the last day of the Winter Session of the Assam Assembly today as many as six organizations of the Dimoria area rocked Dispur Last Gate, demanding  Dispur of handing over the Jugdol murder case to the CBI and speeding up the investigation into the case. The protestors also demanded of the government to ensure exemplary punishment to the culprits.

The six organizations that staged a sit-in demonstration at Dispur Last Gate today seeking CBI inquiry into the Jugdol murder case are – the Dimoria unit of the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), the Dimoria district unit of the All Assam Tribal Sangha (AATS), the Karbi Students’ Association (KSA), the Dimoria Regiol Committee of the Assam Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU), the Kamrup District Committee of the All Tiwa Students’ Union (ATSU) and the Dimoria Committee of the ATTSA.

Talking to newsmen at Dispur Last Gate today, AATS’ Domoria unit president Bishnu Rahang said: “The investigation into the murder case has been slowed down since the me of MLA Akon Bora figured up in the list of accused. The police has been trying to hush the case up. We want Dispur to hand over the case to the CBI for inquiry into it, besides speeding up the investigation. If the Congress projects MLAs like Akon Bora as party candidates again, we’ll do all to stop the party from making it to Dispur. It’s a matter of shame that the culprits of the heinous crime at Jugdol have been moving scot-free.”
