Have courage for scientific study on dams: AASU to PM

By our Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, February 21: The All Assam Students' Union (AASU) today opposed Prime Minister rendra Modi’s statement on hydroelectric power projects in Aruchal Pradesh yesterday and said that it would never accept any decision that would go against the interests of Assam. The students' body said that before taking steps for the construction of every dam in Aruchal Pradesh, the Prime Minister should have courage to go for a scientific study.

In a statement issued to the press today, AASU president Sankar Prasad Rai and general secretary Tapan Kumar Gogoi said that Modi should not differ what he had said on big dam and other issues before the elections and after the elections. “Though there is change of guards at New Delhi, we haven’t seen any change in reality so far.”

AASU adviser Samujjal Bhattacharya said: “What’s scientifically true is true for all. The Prime Minister should lay more tress on scientific study of big dams.”
