Guwahati, July 30: The Gauhati High Court today admitted a PIL on alleged irregularities in the Assam Public Service Commission.

A bench of Chief Justice (acting) K Shreedhar Rao and Justice PK Saikia issued notices to the State Chief Secretary and APSC secretary to file their affidavits by August 14 when the court will conduct the next hearing.

The PIL filed by KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi alleged anomalies in the conduct of the 2013 APSC examition.

"The petitioner also questioned as to why the Tapan Lal Barua committee report, recommending reforms in the commission, have not been implemented till date. The PIL also stated that the anti-corruption branch has submitted a report against the APSC chairman, but the State government did not act on it," the petitioner's lawyer Bijon Mahajan said. Seven unsuccessful candidates have also filed a separate petition at the High Court regarding anomalies in the examition and selection procedure of the APSC.
