HC on constable recruitment

Guwahati, January 21: The Gauhati High Court today issued a showcause notice to the Assam government asking why no age relaxation has been given to OBC candidates in the recruitment to 6,784 posts of Assam Police constables. Hearing a petition filed by three candidates, a bench of Justice Ujjal Bhuyan directed the government to provide an age relaxation of three years to the OBC candidates and re–advertise the jobs. No age relation was given to OBC candidates in the earlier published advertisement. The last constable recruitment in 2004 was also mired in controversies.
