High Court stay on Aruchal Assembly session till Jan 4

Guwahati, Dec 21: The Gauhati High Court today directed the Speaker of Aruchal Pradesh Assembly not to hold any sitting of the House till January four next. A single bench of Justice DK Sarma passed the order on a petition filed by 34 MLAs of Aruchal Pradesh. These 34 legislators, who had voted against CM bam Tuki, had filed the petition to review an earlier order of Justice Hrishikesh Roy. The earlier order had stayed all decisions Aruchal Governor JP Rajkhowa, including the preponing of the Assembly session to December 16 last. The order by Justice Roy was passed on a petition filed by Speaker bam Rebia against an impeachment motion passed against him in a sitting of the House on December 16 last by the 34 dissident Congress, BJP and Independent MLAs.
