Anomalies in judgEment

BY OUR STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, March 10: The Gauhati High Court has pulled up the judge of Foreigners’ Tribul at Bilasipara in Dhubri district for anomalies and discrepancies in a judgment declaring a woman as illegal foreigner and asked the judge to persolly appear before the court on March 26.

Discrepancies in judgment of the FT came to the light after the accused Momi Bibi of Kokrajhar district moved the Gauhati High Court challenging the judgment of the FT judge Elin Sarma that declared her illegal foreigner. The high court has found serious anomalies and discrepancies of records in the judgment and asked the FT judge to appear before the court on March 26 to explain anomalies noticed in records.

The development has come close on the heels of the Gauhati High Court’s instruction to the Home department to seize records and case diaries regarding 230 judgments delivered by the FTs in Juria and Dhing in gaon district and FT in lbari. In all these judgments the FTs had declared the accused as Indian tiols or citizens. While some of these judgments were delivered without sigtures of FT judges, many of them were written without mentioning details of records and case diaries.
