Himanta Biswa Sarma to raise voice for an Act to ban bandhs

GUWAHATI: Finance, Health and PWD minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday said he will raise the matter of bringing a legislation to ban bandhs before the State Cabinet. Sarma said he does not support any type of bandh and feels that the government must take actions to foil bandhs given by any organization. He said since the Gauhati High Court has already declared bandh as illegal it has become imperative for the State Government to enforce a legislation to ban bandhs. When asked whether he will support in case a bandh is called by the BJP Sarma evaded a directly reply and said he personally does not support bandh. He also appealed to the media to black out the news about bandhs.
