Huts built by ga miscreants demolished

GUWAHATI, February 18: Assam Police and SSB personnel last night demolished four houses built by ga miscreants in the disputed B Sector of Golaghat district. Police sources said tension ran high in the disturbed inter-state border area under Uriamghat Police Station after armed ga miscreants intruded inside the Rajapukhuri area of B Sector on Monday, forcing the locals to flee the area. The intruders erected four houses using bamboo and tin. However, a joint team of Assam Police and SSB last night demolished the houses. “The situation now is under control,” Golaghat SP PP Singh said. In August last, armed ga miscreants had killed at least nine villagers in the area. The attacks in August, in which several houses were torched, had displaced over 10,000 villagers.
