FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT
DHUBRI, June 14: A powerful improvised explosive device (IED) was recovered from a passenger bus at Paglahat in Dhubri district today.  The bus -med Siva Parbati (No-As-16 C-4223) - was coming from Gossaigaon in Kokrajhar to Dhubri.  On receiving a tip-off, a joint team of Tamarhat police and Paglahat police found the explosive while checking the bus at Paglahat, Dhubri Superintendent of Police (SP) Mridulanda Sarma told reporters.  The powerful IED weighing around two kilograms was wrapped with carbon paper and kept in a bag, Sarma said. Bomb experts defused it in a nearby field. It was not immediately known which militant outfit was involved in it or for what purpose the IED was brought to Dhubri, Sarma said. Possibility of ULFA or KLO's involvement in transporting the bomb cannot be ruled out, he added. Meanwhile, a high alert has been sounded in Dhubri district along the Assam-Bangladesh border.
