Indian women beat Nepal 4-0

Shillong/ Guwahati, Feb 15: The India women’s team won gold at the 12th South Asian Games (SAG), beating Nepal 4-0 in the fil at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here on Monday. Kamala Devi scored twice. Bala Devi and Ashalata Devi were the other scorers. The match brought to an end India’s top women’s footballer Bembem Devi’s intertiol career. Meanwhile, India’s gold drought in men’s soccer continued at the South Asian Games as the side lost the fil to Nepal 1-2 at the Indira Gandhi Athletic stadium in Guwahati. Nepal had won the last football gold in this competition nearly 22 years back, defeating the same opponent at Dhaka.

There was a good turn-out in the game and India, capitalizing home support, domited the first half and also maged to earn a lead through local boy Holicharan rzary who converted a spot kick.

However, Nepal came back strongly in the second half scoring twice through Prakash Budathoki and N Shreshta. Earlier, Bangladesh won the bronze medal beating Maldives 7-6 via tie breaker.
