Hi-tech gadgets to be additiol security scanning agents: Sonowal

GUWAHATI, Dec 24: Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal on Sunday said that the entire stretch of Indo-Bangladesh border will be totally sealed by December 2018 with hi-tech scanning gadgets to be the additiol security agents. Sonowal made this announcement while addressing a mammoth rally of BJP workers entitled ‘Shaktikendra Ahbayak Sanmilan’ at Khapara Veteriry field here.

Pointing out the then Prime Minister and then State Chief Minister had promised to do the in 2005, he termed those statements as “false ones”. Lauding Prime Minister rendra Modi for laying utmost stress on total sealing of the intertiol border between India and Bangladesh, Sonowal said that the process got a fillip after Modi took up the premier mantleship. Referring to the ‘Land Boundary Agreement’, (LBA) with Bangladesh by Prime Minister rendra Modi with his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasi, Sonowal claimed that the pact was signed to secure the border between the two tions.

The Chief Minister further said that during the present BJP regime, both the Central and the State Governments have been giving topmost priority to the infrastructural development of the bordering districts of Assam, and added that the earlier Government never paid any attention to this aspect.

NRC: Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal reiterated that the BJP Governments both at the Centre and the State will definitely bring out a foolproof tiol Register of Citizens (NRC) along the Supreme Court guidelines at the earliest. He appealed to the citizens of the country to be not unduly worried about the updating of the revised NRC, and urged the party workers to dedicatedly involve themselves in the process so that it can be error-free.

DEVELOPMENT & UNEMPLOYMENT: Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal also said that his Government has been giving importance to the development of the industrial sector across the State, and added that such industries would be set up in 33 districts.  Sonowal pointed out that this would lead to the generation of employment avenues for the skilled local youth. He added that his Government is working to make Guwahati the hub of commercial activities in line with the vision of Prime Minister Modi’s ‘Act East Policy’.  He pointed out that the aim of the present Government is to make the ‘Gateway to the North East’ also the ‘Gateway to South East Asia’ for the 62 crore of people of the entire region.

Sonowal said that plans are already on to construct two global trade centres in Guwahati with both the towers being 65 storied each. He further mentioned that a global investors’ summit will be held in the city on February 3 and 4 next year. 

PANCHAYAT POLLS: Referring to the Panchayat polls next year, the Chief Minister said that the entire system of local polls will have to be made total corruption free.

CORRUPTION: The Chief Minister reiterated that under no circumstances will his Government allow corruption to vitiate the environment, and added that else the future of the party will be at risk. He added that already examples of actions against corruption have been shown, and pointed out that if we can stay away from it during the last one-and-half year we can definitely remain taint-free for the remaining part of our tenure.
