GUWAHATI, Oct 30: In a major development in the political scerio of the State, civil society members, intellectuals, artistes and others of Assam have joined hands to fight the commul forces in their bid to safeguard the interests of the common people.
The meeting was called to discuss, what they said, the present political scerio and commul politics being played by the Congress, BJP and the AIUDF. The meeting also discussed elaborately the anti-Assam and anti-Assamese stand of the tiol parties. In the meeting held in a hotel on Wednesday, a 12-member advisory body, a 6-member conveners' body and a 36-member executive committee were formed. The meeting decided to call a State-level political convention in Guwahati towards November-end.
The meeting was attended by the likes of noted politician Premodhar Bora, noted social worker Deven Dutta, renowned jourlist Ajit Kumar Bhuyan, Manjit Mahanta, Adip Phukan, advocate Nekibur Zaman, retired IAS officer Prafulla Sharma, JP Saikia and others.
