IT raid in Guwahati

GUWAHATI, Sept 22: The Income Tax department on Tuesday carried out sudden raids in Fancy Bazaar and Athgaon area of the city. The sudden raid ahead of the Durga Puja came as a shocker for the business community. At around 3 pm on Tuesday, officials of the IT department first went to ‘Jogers’, at HB Road in Fancy Bazaar. The gift shop which was iugurated just 15 days back belongs to one Manoj Jogers nee Manoj Jain. The sudden raid in a newly opened shop has surprised the business community in the area. Meanwhile, a source in the IT department has informed that in the past too Jogers had records of irregularities in business. “He was on the IT radar for quite some time,” claimed the source. On the other hand, the IT department raided a hardware shop in Athgaon area in the evening. The owner of the shop, Tirupati Hardware is one Mahesh Bajaj. However, till filing of this report, no details of the raid has been made official.
