Jailbreak in Diphu, 4 inmates escape

DIPHU, June 23: In a daring jailbreak from Diphu district jail in Karbi Anglong, four inmates made good their escape on Monday night. The fugitives are Saransing Terang, Dutta Engti, Harison Teron, and Joy Tisso. They had been lodged in Diphu jail in murder, theft and extortion cases. Taking serious note of the incident, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today directed DGP Khagen Sharma to strengthen security in and around all jails across the State. Ordering a probe into the jailbreak and stern discipliry action against errant officials responsible for the serious security lapse, Gogoi also instructed the DGP to initiate measures to prevent recurrence of such incidents in future.
