DHUBRI, July 1: Security has been put on maximum alert in Dhubri following the recovery of four powerful bombs in the last one week amidst intelligence inputs warning of strikes by Islamist terrorist organisations in the lower Assam district.

"Four bombs have been recovered in Dhubri during the last one week. It has been learnt that an organization is planning a major attack in Dhubri," Dhubri Superintendent of Police Mridulanda Sharma said on Wednesday.

He said after the reported operation by the army in Myanmar, some terrorists, under the instruction of Pakistan's ISI, are trying to sneak into Assam through the Indo-Bangladesh border. Reports said that around 20-30 militants are trying to enter India. Police have already arrested three militants of an Islamist terrorist organisation from whose possession a powerful IED was recovered in the Bilasipara area.

He further said that based on the confessions of the arrested militants, the police on Tuesday recovered another powerful bomb from Gauripur railway station. The bomb, a time device, was apparently planted to blow up a Dhubri-Siliguri train.

Sharma further said that the police and the Border Security Force are on a tight vigil along the Indo-Bangladesh border to ensure that no infiltration takes place through the intertiol border. He also said that check posts have been installed at various places and strict instructions have been given to the personnel manning them to frisk each and every vehicle. He also said that after interrogation of the terrorists, it has been learnt that there are more bombs in the district.
