JNU Student Sharjeel Imam brought to Guwahati city

GUWAHATI: The Tihar Jail authority, on Thursday, brought Sharjeel Imam to the city. Imam reached the Guwahati Railway Station amidst tight security on Thursday evening.

Soon after reaching the railway station, Imam was taken to the Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital at Pan Bazar for medical checkup.

He was later produced before the CJM Court here.

A case {1/2020 u/s 121(A)/ 124(A)/ 153(A)/ 153(B) of IPC, 13(i)/ 15(a)(iii)/ 18 of Unlawful Activities Prevention Act} was registered at the Crime Branch Police Station here against Imam’s appeal to anti-CAA protestors to ‘cut-off Assam from India’.

The Assam Police got a production warrant against Sharjeel from the Patiala House Court, Delhi.
