Jobless man poisons wife, daughter before committing suicide

BONGAIGAON, Oct 15: Grinding poverty yet again tragically claimed the life of a family in the State on Thursday. A jobless person allegedly committed suicide in Bongaigaon after murdering his wife and three-year old daughter.

The incident took place in Salagan area of Bongaigaon town. The victims are Sanjay Bose alias Babu (45), his wife Rumpa Bose (39) and his three-year old daughter Saksi Bose. Their bodies were recovered today in their house by local people.

Baul Ghosh, a resident of the areas, said that Sanjay was jobless and frustrated since a long time. “He used to remain frustrated always due to the fact that he had no income.  Yesterday we saw him. Today, when their door was closed till noon, at approximately 1.30 pm his sister, who lives nearby, informed us about it. Then we neighbours went to his home and called them. But when we did not receive any reply from inside, we broke open the door and found them dead. Both mother and daughter were lying on the bed and the father was hanging from the ceiling fan. We then informed the police,” he said.

It has been suspected that last night, Sanjay poisoned the food of his wife and daughter and then hanged himself. Sanjay used to work in a grill factory. But since a long time, he was jobless.

Police have sent the bodies for postmortem. Kumar Sanjit Krish, SP Bongaigaon and Imdad Ali, Additiol SP visited the spot. Imdad Ali said that everything would be clear after post mortem and investigation. “We suspect that Sanjay murdered his wife and then committed suicide. But we are not sure how he murdered them, whether by poisoning them or by some other way. Everything will be clear after post mortem,” he said.
