By our Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, June 6: The join-BJP spree is at its peak in Assam. Leaders from various political parties, especially from regiol parties and organizations, are in a mad rush to join the BJP as they have sniffed that the Safron party is going to form the Government at Dispur in 2016.

In a massive programme at the BJP head office at Hengrabari in Guwahati tomorrow, AGP stalwart Jagadish Bhuyan and three executive members of the AGP are going to join the BJP in the presence of its state president Siddhartha Bhattacharyya. What will deal a big blow to the AGP is that, led by Bhuyan, as many as three Upper Assam AGP district committees are set to join the BJP en masse.

This is not all. The Safron party is set to gain more strength in mid-June and June-end. Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba-Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) president Manoj Baruah and All Assam Tea Tribe Students' Association (AATTSA) leader Teras Goala are set to join the BJP in mid-June. Manoj Baruah is considered a pillar in so far as regiolism is concerned. The grip of Goala in tea garden areas in the state is also not negligible.

According to sources, the AJYCP is going to hold its central executive meeting tomorrow when Baruah will resign as president of the Parishad against the wishes of other AJYCP leaders who want him to lead the Parishad from the front.

The AGP is set to get yet another shock in June-end when former minister Rehka Rani Das Boro will join the BJP. Former AASU president Sankar Prasad Rai and general secretary Topon Kumar Gogoi are also set to join the BJP in June-end. All of them, according to sources, have decidedĀ  to join the BJP after having reached understanding with the BJP leadership over constituencies where they like to fight the Assembly elections in 2016 from.
