Tinsukia, January 28: An assistant deputy director in the Tinsukia office of Civil Supplies department along with two others were remanded to judicial custody following a complaint filed by the Tinsukia Deputy Commissioner Puru Gupta. While conducting a raid at a rice godown ‘Bajrang Bhandar’ at Rangpuria in Tinsukia town on November 29, 2014, a team led by the Deputy Commissioner had caught red–handed assistant deputy director Ashok Borkotoky, businessmen Sandip Surekha and Rajiv Saikia, opening 243 sacks of rice from FCI Punjab and fixing new labels on these to sell at the open market. After a case was filed against them, the Tinsukia Sessions and Judicial Magistrate remanded them to judicial custody.
