GUWAHATI, April 5: Alleging dictatorial rule of Akhil Gogoi in Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) and other organizations affiliated to the peasant body, Gogoi’s long-time deputy and the second in command of the organization, Kamal Kumar Medhi resigned from all positions of the KMSS and its organizations on Tuesday. Medhi, was joined by three other student leaders of the Chatra Mukti Sangram Samiti (CMSS).

Addressing a press conference at Guwahati Press Club, Medhi who was the advisor of Ga Mukti Sangram Samiti and KMSS, said that he was under pressure since a long time as the motive of the movement they had started, drifted from its origil track and took an entirely opposite direction.

“Akhil Gogoi’s decision is the fil decision for the organization. If someone criticizes his decision, Gogoi starts to conspire against that person. I was not agreeing to some of his arguments, so instead of letting our comrades know the truth, Akhil Gogoi has been indulging in unethical tactics to malign my image. He is using some of the KMSS members to further his designs in this process,” Medhi said as he challenged Gogoi to prove all the allegations leveled against him with documents.

The three student leaders who resigned from the CMSS today are founder general secretary of the organization and present president Gajiur Rahman, joint general secretary Rakesh Chakrabarty and vice president Subrata Talukdar.

The CMSS leaders too alleged that they have resigned from the organization protesting Akhil Gogoi’s self-centric attitude and dictatorial rule.

Meanwhile, soon after Kamal Kumar Medhi’s press conference, the KMSS publicity secretary Mukul Deka called a press conference and alleged that fearing expulsion, Medhi had staged this drama. He said that Medhi was in talks with several political parties to join them and was going against the movement.

However, in the evening, Medhi called another press conference and cleared the allegations leveled by the KMSS. He termed the allegations baseless and questioned, on what basis the KMSS showcaused him following a statement by APCC president Anjan Dutta, which has no ground.
